Good Morning Donegal Service Receive €45,000 In Lottery Grants

The money will go towards funding a part-time project manager position to help deliver the wellbeing workshop series we are launching in the coming months

Blink are very pleased to announce that we have been awarded a grant of £9900 from the National Lottery Community Fund in partnership with the Government to help with the COVID-19 response.

Studies have shown that people with pre-existing mental conditions (diagnosed or not) suffer disproportionately from lockdown measures and may take longer to feel comfortable going outside after these measures are eased.

To support those dealing with isolation and anxiety, blink will use this funding to launch online wellbeing workshops in the coming months.

Funding For Musicians

These will include more traditional mindfulness courses as well as creative workshops to help you learn a new skill.

The purpose of our workshops is to help build a sense of community with those you meet online and learn with. We hope that a support network of people dealing with similar anxieties can be created, but there will be no expectation to discuss them.

Each workshop will have a workshop leader and a mental health therapist. This is to ensure that everyone can feel comfortable participating and talking about how they are feeling in a safe and supportive environment.

We hope that these workshops will bring some joy and relief from isolation to those involved. To hear more about how you can get involved, please sign up to stay informed.

Winter is a notoriously dark and cold time, but that doesn’t mean you have to sit at home and feel gloomy. Why not start February in style by joining Blink, an innovative mental health campaign, for a fun day of board games and cake. Board games are a great way to meet new people and try something new. There is a game for everyone, whether you like to be silly or strategic, go on adventures and quests or just laugh with new friends about all your mistakes. Blink are delighted to be hosting this event in partnership with Greenwich and Blackheath Board Games Group. You will be hard pressed to meet a group of people more enthusiastic, welcoming and passionate about gaming. There will be a selection of games to choose from and try. We will also have information about a wink, opportunity to donate, homemade cakes for sale and raffle!

Thanks to Board Game Guru, Big Potato Games and Gray Fox Games for donating the new games to our raffle. Thanks also to The Guard House and Dock & Bay for the other prizes 🙂

Raffle tickets can be purchased online via PayPal (https://www.paypal.me/blinkcampaign) or on the day (suggested donation £1 per strip of 5 tickets)

Blink was lucky enough to host a welfare marquee at the world’s biggest philosophy and music festival over the bank holiday weekend in May 2019. How the Lights Get In is situated on the edge of the Black Mountains along the banks of the River Wye just outside the famous book town of Hay. How The Light Gets In holds a special place, but it’s only the backdrop for the real magic to come

The festival is about presenting new ideas and thought-provoking discussions; with a progressive and exciting atmosphere of change. This provided the perfect platform for Blink to showcase our campaign.

We ran mindfulness activities that offered a quiet place to relax with increased awareness of the blink as a whole. We also had qualified professional therapists offering free professional support throughout the festival.

We could not have asked for a better welcome. Our therapy sessions were full; The mindfulness sessions have proven to be super popular and we have doubled the size of our mailing list! When Blink highlighted an issue that touches so many people on a personal level, many people came forward to tell us their stories and show us their support.

Above the; Bands shouted, we got some new volunteers and even sold a shirt! There were so many amazing moments, but one particularly exciting moment was when the Song Machine (a very talented, quick-thinking poet with a typewriter) wrote us this amazing song.

They Wanted Research Funding, So They Entered The Lottery

We are still overwhelmed by the support we received over the weekend and are grateful to everyone who stopped by to hear more about what we are doing. It really means so much to us.

We are already planning the sequel in no time, so stay tuned via our newsletter and social media for updates and more stories about our campaign. In the meantime, here are some photos from the weekend!

Special thanks to the following people and companies, because without them the above would not have been possible

And last but not least, our amazing volunteers and carers give up their bank holiday to help spread awareness about mental health; and help us provide fast peer and professional support when people need it most

Blink is happy to announce that we have a welfare tent at the world’s biggest philosophy and music festival in May!

We will conduct mindfulness activities, offer a quiet space and raise awareness of the blink as a whole. We will also have qualified professional therapists offering professional support throughout the festival.

We are so grateful to those who have offered to volunteer their time and energy to help us with How The Light Gets In; Without our blinkers community, this would not have been possible. Thanks.

Blink are delighted to announce that this week we received news that the National Lottery Community Fund has awarded us £8,000 towards our campaign.

Examples Of Delegated Financing For Selected Health Promotion…

This was our first grant proposal, and since we’ve only been a community organization since last August, we’re even more excited about this news.

Part of the grant will be used to help define our safeguarding and referral practices; So when we start delivering our core service of caring for people, it’s all “boo tickets”

The second part of the grant will be used to help us set up as a charity. This will give us official charity status, which will open up more grants, more opportunities and give assurance to our supporters that we really are not for profit.
