Best Gaming Smartphone 2018 Verizon – It’s the end of the year, so you know what that means: the awards list. In our case, it’s time to crown the best phones of 2018, a surprisingly difficult task considering how many great phones there are this year.
We also know that everyone is different with different device preferences. So instead of listing our favorite picks at each price point, our picks are geared toward different buyers and their specific needs.
Best Gaming Smartphone 2018 Verizon
Not the most exciting category, but these are phones that really can’t go wrong. The general popularity means wide carrier compatibility, wide range of accessories and affordable technical support. The phones you recommend to people who know nothing about phones or don’t want to spend too much time on them.

OnePlus 6T. 2018 saw OnePlus take its biggest step yet, transitioning from being a flagship brand for smartphone enthusiasts to one that could appeal to the mainstream. More importantly, it starts at $549 in the US, which is lower than almost all of the competition.
The OnePlus 6T is an all-in-one phone that offers best-in-class performance, a top-notch camera, excellent battery life, classic design, and a solid history of software upgrades. Since it works on both Verizon and GSM networks, it’s hard to justify buying something more expensive. Unless you’re on Sprint.
Almost every year there’s a spot for the iPhone, but this is the first year you can think of where Apple won’t take the top prize for its flagship. Instead, the iPhone Xr makes more sense for most people. It has the same processor, the same main camera (it’s improved this year) and shows better battery performance in several tests.
You’ll miss out on the higher-resolution OLED screen, 3D Touch, and phone lens, but it’s still affordable for most people at $749. It’s also a better-looking device if you ask me, with tons of color options that harken back to the good old days of the iPad nano.
Whacky Phones Unlike Anything You’ve Ever Seen
I had some doubts including this phone here. I thought it was overpriced for what was on offer and thought Google could do more to compete with the competition. Plus, the XL has that huge point.
However, I can’t recommend it because Google’s software is worth it. It works well, has good battery life and updates quickly. The Pixel 3 is the only Android phone not handicapped by its big brother.
But above all else, Google’s camera is in a league of its own, especially after the addition of Night Sight last month.
This feature has completely changed my perception of what low-light photography can look like on a smartphone, and while other phones have similar night modes, none come close to Google’s performance and reliability in my experience.
The New Palm Is A Tiny Phone To Keep You Away From Your Phone
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the most desirable phone in recent memory. Everything is there except the kitchen sink
I’d like to see some of Huawei’s software features for a cleaner experience, the abundance of options doesn’t hurt performance, and the battery life is excellent.
The Mate 20 Pro also deserves a spot on the “easy deals” list, but its high price and difficulty getting it in North America make it best for power users.
Along with the Mate 20 Pro, Samsung’s Note 9 is one of the few phones that feels right at its $1,000+ price tag. It starts at 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM and expands to 512GB/8GB of storage. It also has stereo speakers, great battery life, a headphone jack, and is definitely the only phone worth buying with a stylus.
Samsung Galaxy Note10, Note10+ And Note10 5g Phones
My only caveat is the camera, but it’s tiny. While Samsung’s shooter is good enough for most people, Samsung has fallen behind Google, Apple and Huawei as the class leader.
However, the Note 9’s large screen, tons of software features, superior battery life, and stylus power make it easy for users.
It’s hard to find a truly “bad” camera on current flagships, but some phones are ahead of the competition. I’ve talked about Pixel 3 and Mate 20 Pro tips before, but it’s worth repeating.
The Pixel 3 continues to be the best smartphone on the market. Its lead has shrunk significantly this year as the competition includes better hardware and advanced software, but Google’s camera still produces some of the most pleasing images.
Best Cheap Phone 2022: Six Smartphones For Under $500
We also have to admit that Google has the best selfie setup on the market, especially now that Google has added a secondary wide-angle camera. It must be repeated. Night vision is a game changer.
Mate 20 Pro has the most versatile camera. Huawei’s 40-megapixel sensor is huge and the device outperforms the competition. Huawei has a lot of software features, including a nice night mode. But its best feature is the triple-camera system that lets you take wide, standard, and phone photos in one device.
It’s a homage to the LG V40, with a similar triple-camera setup on the back and two cameras on the front. LG has also significantly improved dynamic range and low-light performance, and has industry-leading video support.
Apple’s XS, XS Max and Xr have achieved their best performance in years thanks to a dramatically improved HDR algorithm. Apple’s photos often have a higher dynamic range than Google’s, and its display is among the best on the market. It also has a stunning portrait mode with enhanced depth realism and a robust ecosystem of accessories and software that only Apple can muster. While the XR offers many of the photographic advantages, professionals prefer the XS sibling because of the telephoto lenses.
The Best Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Deals In 2022
LG’s V40 may lack stereo speakers, but it packs the best headphone output you’ll get on a smartphone. It’s not just “good for a smartphone”, it’s better than most audio components. LG’s great thing over the years; just ask audiophiles.
But it’s not just the audio tracks. The V40 is LG’s best phone in years, especially in the camera department. It works well, has a solid mono speaker and some useful software features. It’s only let down by its small battery and clunky interface.
Motorola has won this category almost every year, and the G5 continues that tradition. It’s not the most powerful phone money can buy, but it’s a close version of Android with a few useful features, and you can tell the difference with regular use. Additionally, Motorola has upped its design ante this year, with small bezels and a glass back that could be mistaken for a flagship. Easy offer at $249+ MSRP.
Xiaomi’s Pocophone F1 was an amazing launch. flagship Snapdragon 845, 4000mAh battery, 64GB storage and 6GB RAM.
Here’s What The Galaxy Note 8 Will Cost At At&t, T Mobile, Verizon, And Sprint
. The Pixel 3 has worse specs for $800. It also packs a powerful, solid camera and Xiaomi’s flashy MIUI.
Sure, it’s built from plastic and has “only” an FHD+ LCD, but it’s a great value that no one can compete with. The only caveat is availability and compatibility. you need to make sure it works with your carrier first.
Do you miss the mechanical keyboard on your phone? You’ve included BlackBerry’s Key2 and Key2 LE.
The Key2 siblings are separate products, but the physical keyboard gives them a level of performance. What you lose in real estate, you’ll gain in performance. Key2 devices allow quick and easy access to applications and can’t be done without a set of hardware keys.
Best Android Smartphone 2018: What Would You Pick? [poll]
Both phones are perfect for power users who need to get a lot done from their phones. The Key2 has slightly better performance, a bigger battery, and a $650 metal build. The Key2 LE is $400 for slightly worse specs and plastic construction, but given that neither model offers flagship-level performance, I’d recommend looking for a cheaper model for most.
An incredibly ambitious phone, the Oppo Find X got a bit lost in the wave of devices this year. Oppo was one of the first to try to solve the “gap problem” by hiding the camera completely; the camera retracts into the phone body when not in use. Surprisingly, this camera is really good, with excellent dynamic range and tasteful contrast and saturation.
A gorgeous phone with flagship features, one of the most beautiful devices I’ve ever laid eyes on. It seems to be very solidly built, though I have some concerns about the durability of any moving parts
